The Toronto Police Service has confirmed that one of its officers died while on duty on Thursday morning.

Police said preliminary information suggests that the cause of death may be medical.

“We are in the process of notifying the officer’s family and will share further updates in the coming hours,” police said in a social media post.

“Our heartfelt thoughts are with the officer’s loved ones, friends, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time.”
