Candles recalled due to fire hazard

Health Canada announced Wednesday a consumer product recall on candles in ceramic containers due to fire hazards, a release from the agency reads.

The affected products are Maison Lavande candles in a ceramic container and sold in four scents: amber, vanilla and lavender; eucalyptus woods and lavender; grapefruit and lavender, as well as cedar and lavender.

“Candle flames can reach abnormally high levels, which can lead to fire, property damage and personal injury,” Health Canada’s statement said.

The recalled candles, amounting to more than 12,000, were only sold between May 1 and Nov. 24 of this year.

Only candles sold between May 1 and Nov. 24 are being recalled, which Health Canada says amounts to more than 12,000.

As of Dec. 11, the company says one report of high levels of flames were recorded in Canada, with no damage or injury.

Consumers are advised to avoid using the affected products, dispose them and contact the company for a refund.
