Ottawa OPP stops impaired driver, seizes $28K and suspected drug tablets on Highway 417

A traffic stop for impaired driving lead to the seizure of $28,000 and suspected drug tablets Saturday evening on Highway 417 in Ottawa, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Police say the vehicle was stopped after officers received a call reporting a possible impaired driver on the highway. The amount of cash and the suspected drug tablets were seized during the stop, while police were conducting a roadside screening.

Officers say the driver was taken to the Ottawa detachment of the OPP.

The investigation is ongoing.

“Thank you to the public for helping keep our roads safe!” Ottawa OPP said in a post on X Sunday.
