New Year’s Day wishes 2025 from celebrities, world leaders


The start of a new year has inspired some of the world’s high-profile figures and organizations to share messages about hope, gratitude and goodwill.

Here are some of their greetings posted on social media:

Celine Dion:

Pop superstar Celine Dion expressed her “heartfelt thanks” to fans for their “unwavering support” in a New Year’s message. Dion had previously revealed she was battling a rare painful disease and returned to the spotlight in 2024, including a performance at the Paris Olympics last summer.

The Royal Family:

The Royal Family also endured a rocky year with cancer scares that forced King Charles III and Kate, Princess of Wales to temporarily step away from public appearances. They shared a video with a simple New Year’s greeting.

Janet Gretzky:

Though Wayne Gretzky hasn’t post his own New Year’s message, the Great One’s wife shared a video message on behalf of her mom Jean, who chuckled as she blew a tassled trumpet.

David Beckham:

The soccer legend posted a series of photos of him and his wife Victoria Beckham and their family, thanking everyone for an “unforgettable year.”

Ariana Grande:

Wicked film star and singer Ariana Grande called 2024 “full of art and heart” as she thanked fans for their love and support.

Mariah Carey:

The pop superstar and “Queen of Christmas” shared a video of her meeting and thanking fans for “many amazing moments” during her concerts.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau:

Justin Trudeau stressed that Canada will remain “strong and free” despite “challenges and opportunities” in 2025.

Pope Francis:

The Pope, 88, called on everyone to build “a culture of peace” in the new year on the World Day of Peace.

The United Nations:

UN Secretary-General António Guterres pledged to support those working for peace, health, equality and stability.

NASA’s Johnson Space Center:

NASA’s Johnson Space Center posted stunning photos of how the Earth’s city lights look from the International Space Station.

U.S. President Joe Biden:

After a tumultuous year that saw the outgoing president step down from the 2024 race, Biden posted a simple message wishing Americans a happy New Year.

U.S. president-elect Donald Trump:

Trump shared two messages on Truth Social, one with a photo of him clenching his fist with his New Year’s greeting and another vowing “it will be a great time for America!”
